UGM Crisis Shelter
Crisis Shelter for Women & Children

The UGM Crisis Shelter for Women & Children exists to provide a safe, healthy, short-term refuge for women and children in crisis. It is one of the few options in Spokane open to homeless women with teenage boys.

Capacity: 30 women (12 moms with children and 18 without)

Length of Stay: Two weeks, with the possibility of extension

Requirements: All women are accepted if beds are available. To stay beyond the initial two weeks, women must commit to being drug and alcohol free and submit to random drug testing.

Services Provided: Safe shelter; emergency clothing; breakfast, sack lunch, transportation to the Union Gospel Mission for dinner and chapel; help finding appropriate housing and social service resources.

Transition: Women also are encouraged to consider the long-term residential recovery program at Anna Ogden Hall. Those who transition to Anna Ogden Hall enter into a program that includes participation in a comprehensive schedule of Bible classes, Christian counseling, education in the learning center, and assistance with addiction recovery.
